Wall Fans
Keep cool and save on floor space with one of these ultra-efficient wall fans! They make a great addition to any room and are especially useful for businesses who need to make the most out of every inch of floor space.
Oscillating Wall Fans
Wall-mounted fans have many uses that floor-standing models don’t. While they share many of the same plus points as regular pedestal fans, there are a few key differences you should know about.
They Need to Be Wall-Mounted
It sounds obvious, but wall fans need to be mounted on the wall! This means you need to find a suitable spot on the wall for them. They’re usually very easy to mount – just screw the backplate into the wall and you’re good to go – but it’s worth mentioning you’ll need to be at least somewhat comfortable with a cordless drill to put them up. If you plan on mounting your fan on a solid brick wall, make sure you have the appropriate tools to do so.
They Work Best Near Doorways
Like most fans, wall-mounted fans are most effective when they complement the existing airflow of the room. Remember, fans aren’t aircon units and they don’t actually extract heat from the air – all they do is move it around so that it feels cooler against your skin. If the air is already moving a little thanks to an open door or window, it makes their job that much easier so they work more efficiently.
They’re Best Mounted Near the Ceiling
Warm air rises. If you remember one thing from your school physics lessons, that’s probably it! This means it makes sense to mount your wall fan close to the ceiling – they’ll then help circulate the warm, stale air that gathers near the top of a room and get it circulating around the room. This will improve the airflow in the room, making the air feel cool and fresh on those sweltering summer days.
Takes Up No Floor Space
In smaller rooms or businesses, every inch of floor space is crucial. A wall-mounted fan doesn’t take up any of it, so you can make the most of your floor space.
What to Look for in a Wall Fan
There are plenty of different options if you’re looking for a wall fan. Below, we’ll list a few features you should look out for.
Easy to Install
Unlike most other models, you can’t simply take a wall fan out of the box and start using it right away – you’ll need to wall-mount it first. That means it makes sense to choose a model that’s lightweight and easy to install, with a sturdy backplate that keeps it fitted flush against the wall. This is especially important if you have a larger or industrial fan.
Remote Control
If you plan on mounting your fan high up on the wall – which you really should, as we said above – a remote control is a useful feature to look out for. It gives you a much safer and more convenient way of controlling hard-to-reach wall fans.
Airflow
Wall-mounted fans are best used to circulate the air around a room. This means the airflow capacity of your chosen model is really important. It’s a measure of how much air the fan moves in cubic metres (m³). Airflow is generally dictated by two things; the diameter of the fan and the speed at which it spins. Be aware that the more air your fan moves, the more noise it’ll make, so if you’re looking for a model that’s both quiet and powerful, you’ll need to do a bit of a balancing act.
Fan Size and Weight
Unless you plan on mounting your fan on a rock-solid brick wall, you’ll want to check how much it weighs before you buy it. Luckily, most models are made to be as lightweight as possible, but it’s always worth quickly double-checking to be sure.
Versatility
Some models give you the option to use them free-standing and can be detached from their wall-mounting bracket whenever you like. If you want something a bit more flexible, a multi-purpose fan like this model from Prem-I-Air is ideal.
Timer
One of the big plus points of wall-mounted fans is that you can turn them on and forget about them while they do their thing. They don’t take up any floor space and usually sit above eye level, which is useful if you want to work without being distracted, but it does mean you might forget to turn them off from time to time! Fans with a timer will help you avoid wasting energy by allowing you to program your fan to turn off automatically. This means you can make your fan work around your schedule and you won’t have to worry about remembering to switch it off.
Design
A wall fan will be a permanent fixture in a room, so it makes sense to choose one that fits with your décor. If you’re a customer-facing business, it’s important to make sure every inch of your business looks smart and professional. Luckily, our range includes a massive variety of fans to choose from!
